For example, the vent piping that is used in wood burning fireplaces is tested up to 2100 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure that the temperatures outside of the pipe always stay within a safe range – even a 0.2 degree Fahrenheit variation during testing is enough for a product to fail!
Manufacturers take lots of time and engineering to ensure that their products will pass this testing, and that means that you can sleep soundly knowing that properly installed fireplaces that pass this testing are extremely low risk if used properly.
The most important part of the process is ensuring that whomever installs your appliance knows and understands the standards to which these units are tested and follows the instructions. Look for NFI certified professionals that can advise you carefully based on your specific needs and situation in your home!
